Anguilla

The island of  Anguilla resides in the Caribbean. The island was colonized by the British in 1650 but was home to Anawarks. The French and Irish tried to conquer the land and often invaded Anguilla for their natural resources such as cotton and tobacco in the early years. Around the 1800s Saint Kitts and Nevis island had control of Anguilla until the people lobbied for it to be put under British rule again. The British finally declared the land in the 1970s but wasn't completely severed from Saint kitt until 1980. American culture is heavily influenced by Anguilla although its culture is very diverse. Their religion consists of Protestant catholicism from the British and religion called Obed recorded from African's that resided in Anguilla. Anguilla's history is reflected in its food as it has Spanish, English, and French origin. These three come together to make dishes such as lobster crawfish and stew including island veggies with pumpkin soup. Some islands I'm interested in adopting are Haiti, Saba, and Bermuda.
